You've used AI to support tasks already in this course. Now you'll use it to design something, and see how the 4Ds apply when you're solving a problem versus simply completing a task.

So, how do you design something to solve a problem in your educational practice?

  1. Pick your problem. If you’re stuck, finish one of these: “I wish ___ existed.” “I spend too much time doing ___”. “I wish there was a way to ___”. (Or just grab something already waiting for you: a unit outline, parent communication, assessment data you haven’t analyzed.)
  2. Build a first version using all the information you’ve gained in this course. Run it through the 4Ds. Delegation: what must stay with the human? Description: is the purpose and audience clear enough? Discernment: test it. Does it actually solve your problem? To what extent and in what way(s)? Diligence: would you put this in front of students or colleagues as-is?
  3. Iterate based on what you find.
